Tapping
Could tapping therapy help you? Don’t wait for an injury or surgery to make a Physical Therapy appointment! The best time for Physical Therapy (PT) is actually before you get hurt.
- Experiencing pain, weakness or muscle imbalance?
- Trying to prevent injuries or surgeries?
- Seeking to improve your sensory integration and quality of life?

What is Tapping?
Tapping, or Percussive Therapy, utilizes rhythmic, percussive taps on skin and muscles. Our PT teams use it for musculoskeletal care, to release muscle tension and stiffness, stimulate blood flow, and promote your body’s natural recovery process. It’s commonly used for treating Cystic Fibrosis, congestion in the respiratory system, and certain types of pain.
What is Tapping like?
In the treatment of Cystic Fibrosis, our physical therapist will tap your chest and back with a cupped hand, using gentle but firm pressure. It’s usually done over the clothes, so no need to change into a gown! For some treatments, your therapist will just use the fingers for even gentler taps.
