What is Scraping?
Scraping, or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, is the manual break up of fascia and built-up tissue in muscles. You’re probably most familiar with the Gua Sha tool used for skincare. However, we take scraping one step farther to treat pain and increase blood circulation.
What is Scraping like?
Our therapists use different sizes and shapes of scrapers made from plastic, ceramic, or metal to apply pressure and scrape areas of your body.
Will Scraping help me?
Scraping can treat:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Tennis elbow
- Carpal tunnel
- Neck pain
- Knee pain
- Shin splints
- …And help with muscle pain and muscle recovery
How does Scraping work?
The targeted pressure from scraping breaks down scar tissue, reduces muscle tension, and promotes healing. The scraping motion also stimulates a localized inflammatory response, increasing blood flow to the area. This signals your body to start its natural healing process with tissue regeneration and remodeling.
