Electrotherapy (Stim and Combo)
Considering stim and combo (electrotherapy)? Don’t wait for an injury or surgery to make a Physical Therapy appointment! The best time for Physical Therapy (PT) is actually before you get hurt.
- Experiencing pain, weakness or muscle imbalance?
- Trying to prevent injuries or surgeries?
- Seeking to improve your sensory integration and quality of life?
What’s the difference between Stim and Combo?
While stim and combo treatments offer electrotherapy, the technique and delivery method vary based on what our doctors determine your body needs after each appointment.
What are Stim and Combo like?
If you receive electrotherapy, our team will apply pads, connected to electrodes, to deliver the stimulation to your body. The electrical impulses help stimulate nerve cells to change the way you perceive pain and raise your endorphin levels to support your body’s natural pain-relief process.
Will Stim and Combo help me?
- Stim helps reset your nervous system and enhances the effects of your adjustment. After seeing one of our chiropractors, they will usually recommend a short “stim” treatment.
- Combo can be used for general pain relief. Using ultrasound, our doctors can treat inflammation and deeper sources of pain after your adjustment.
How do Stim and Combo work?
“Stim”, also known as electronic stimulation, uses a TENS unit (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) to deliver electrical impulses to your muscles and nerves. A combo treatment combines electrotherapy with ultrasound. Combo allows our doctors to treat deeper sources of inflammation pain through ultrasound application.
