Manual Adjustments

What is the Diversified Technique?

The Diversified Technique combines the best forms of body manipulation to correct your affected vertebral segments. This type of adjustment is high-velocity and low-amplitude. Our doctors will deliver a quick, short thrust with their hands to your restricted joint, at a precise angle, depth, direction, and speed. Dr. Martin and Dr. Adams have honed their techniques through years of study, practice, experience, and diagnostic expertise. The Diversified Technique continues to provide the most effective relief for patients, across all ages and health histories, which is why it is one of our main styles.

What is the Thompson Technique?

Dr. Martin and Dr. Adams pair Diversified adjustments with the Thompson Technique. The Thompson Technique utilizes the drop-table, a pneumatically powered machine that adjusts to each patient’s body. It is particularly effective in identifying and correcting vertebral subluxation to facilitate healing and pain relief. When one of our chiropractors performs their adjustment, they will drop different sections of the table, corresponding to whatever region of your body they’re treating. The drop facilitates the adjustment and brings the joint through its normal range of motion, resulting in a complete correction with less applied force.

Tool-Assisted Adjustments

For patients who prefer a gentler adjustment, without the “pops,” our doctors are trained in using the Activator, ArthroStim, and Percussor tools.

  • The Activator is a spring-loaded instrument capable of delivering a controlled, reproducible tap to the body. It produces enough force to adjust the vertebrae without injury.
  • The ArthroStim provides an effective treatment while reducing the amount of force applied to your body. It’s perfect for infants, young children, patients with acute pain, older patients, and patients who found previous manual adjustments ineffective. The ArthroStim delivers repetitive taps, faster than the Activator, and it may feel similar to a massage gun.
  • The Percussor rounds our range of chiropractic instruments. This therapy delivers quick, soft taps to muscles, and we use it in various myofascial techniques like trigger point release and soft tissue mobilization. The vibration also helps release tension and increase blood flow.

For the patients who like a little bit of everything, Dr. Martin and Dr. Adams are experts at combining treatment styles to bring you maximum relief. Every appointment will contain a mix of techniques, whether you want a hands-on and tool-assisted adjustment or only a tool-based adjustment.
